Job DescriptionJob Description Physical Therapist - Independent Contractor We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapist to join our team as an Independent Contractor in a Community Integration/home health setting. This role supports adults with developmental disabilities, the majority of whom have intellectual disabilities, by helping them achieve greater independence and success in the home and community environments of their choice. The ideal candidate is patient, empathetic, collaborative, organized, and passionate about advocacy and individualized care. Therapists with experience in two or more clinical or community-based settings are strongly desired; however, candidates who demonstrate the qualities above are encouraged to apply. Pay is competitive and will depend on your experience, and will be discussed during the interview!! Key Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized physical therapy programs focused on safety, independence, and participation in activities of daily living and meaningful community activitiesWork directly with clients to help them achieve their highest level of physical function and independenceEvaluate the effectiveness of treatment interventions and communicate client progress with the interdisciplinary teamMaintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care servicesCollaborate with caregivers, support staff, families, and other professionals to provide comprehensive, person-centered careAssess and assist with fitting and recommendations for durable medical equipment (DME)Practice according to the PT Practice Act, New Mexico Developmental Disability Waiver Standards, and the agency handbook Qualifications Current New Mexico Physical Therapist license requiredPrevious experience in physical therapy, personal training, community integration, or a related field is preferredExperience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities is a plusAbility to manage a physical workload and adapt to community-based environmentsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and team membersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational abilitiesExperience with assessment and fitting for durable medical equipment preferred What We're Looking For The successful candidate will demonstrate: Patience and empathyCreativity and flexibilityStrong advocacy skillsMotivation and initiativeEffective collaboration and teamworkA commitment to helping individuals thrive in their chosen environments If you are passionate about empowering individuals through meaningful, community-based physical therapy services, we encourage you to apply.
