Job Description:
Physical Therapist (1.0 FTE) Please apply With a population of approximately 300 students, Menands Union Free School District is a unique Pre-K-8th grade school. We are a very supportive school community and work collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of our students in a nurturing environment. Menands School is accepting applications for a full-time Physical Therapist who is passionate about supporting students' access to the educational environment and overall physical development. This full-time position will be split between Menands UFSD (.8 FTE) and another neighboring school (.2 FTE). The Physical Therapist will play a critical role in the evaluation, identification, and support of students with physical and motor needs. This individual will collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide data-driven recommendations, support student mobility and access, and help students participate fully in their educational program across a continuum of needs. Key Responsibilities Conduct physical therapy evaluations for initial referrals and re-evaluations, and clearly communicate results to staff and families Participate in CSE and Section 504 meetings; support development of IEPs, including present levels, goals, and program recommendations, in alignment with state and federal requirements Provide IEP-mandated physical therapy services (individual and/or group) and monitor student progress toward motor and functional goals Assess and support student mobility, positioning, and access to the learning environment, including recommendations for adaptive equipment and environmental modifications Collaborate with staff to design, implement, and monitor interventions that support students' physical access and participation in school activities Provide consultation to teachers and teams regarding movement, positioning, safety, and strategies to support student independence Support staff in identifying and addressing physical barriers to learning and participation Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment Interested candidates must possess a valid New York State license in Physical Therapy. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in school-based practice, knowledge of special education processes, and experience working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities.
