JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Director, the Staff Physical Therapist provides physical therapy to the residents and supervises the Physical Therapy Assistant(s) and Physical Therapy Aide(s).
RESPONSIBILITIES
A Physical Therapist is responsible for developing and applying physical therapy modalities, providing therapeutic exercise and functional training with ADLs Provides gait and balance training using specific equipment Documents progress, developing patient/resident program modifications Assists with evaluative techniques, participating in care planning, and other duties to enhance the health and quality of life of the residents/patients.
REQUIREMENTS
New York State Physical Therapist licensure CPR certification Physical strength to lift between 50-100lbs Able to collaborate with a wide range of health care disciplines, as well as offer insight to patient and family members Possess thorough knowledge of the educational and therapeutic values of occupational therapy, as well as the procedures and principles of administration, organization, and management Strong written and verbal communication skills Respect for residents' privacy and rights; display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness
