Job Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will support clinical interventions in a long-term care setting, following evidence-based practices under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Responsibilities include providing rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatments to patients with physical functioning disorders, administering procedures such as manual therapies, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and supportive device use. The PTA will assess patient progress, communicate treatment outcomes to supervising therapists, and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Additional duties include counseling patients, families, caregivers, and service providers regarding physical disorders; documenting treatment activities, progress notes, and discharge summaries in electronic health records in compliance with regulatory standards; and participating in multidisciplinary meetings, trainings, and in-services. The PTA must coordinate with supervising therapists for equipment or supplies and supervise students as applicable. Qualifications include adherence to APTA standards, state practice acts, and ethics, with an active state licensure when required. The position demands effective communication with healthcare team members and compliance with all regulatory and clinical documentation requirements.
