Physical Therapist - Full Time SMH

Position Summary Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team. Position Accountabilities Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Plans physical therapy program for each patient including exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity. Applies diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities tests. Directs and aids patient in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, and functional training using pulleys, weights, steps, and inclined surfaces. Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate Physical Therapy with other therapeutic activities. Provides supervision for PTA. Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient. Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives. Adapts conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal. Evaluates, records, and reports on patient's progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team. Completes charting requirements in a timely manner. Considers specific patient variables such as motivation, stamina, etc. in planning treatment programs. Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process. Provides direct physical therapy to patients on a daily basis. Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
