Full Job Description Company Overview:
HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy is an Approved Private Special Education School dedicated to providing specialized education and therapy services to students with complex disabilities related to Cerebral Palsy and Traumatic Brain Injury. We serve both day and residential students whose districts cannot meet their unique needs, developing individualized programs that integrate education with Physical, Occupational, Speech, and Recreation Therapy.

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Physical Therapist to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will deliver comprehensive physiotherapy services tailored to children with complex disabilities, supporting their mobility, strength, and overall well-being. Your expertise will help enhance our students' quality of life through targeted care plans and innovative therapy techniques. Job Summary :
To support students with complex medical needs by assessing their functional mobility skills, providing individualized therapeutic interventions, acquiring, maintaining, and modifying durable medical equipment, and participating in interdisciplinary team collaboration to facilitate participation and success in school activities.

Education and Experience :
Master's degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from a CAPTE accredited program PA state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist Experience or an affiliation in a pediatric physical therapy setting
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to lift 35 pounds Ability to safely and efficiently transition from positions on the floor to standing Ability to safely position students in their wheelchairs or other adapted equipment Ability to transfer, lift, and/or stand students Reports to :
Physical Therapy Supervisor Supervisory Responsibilities:
Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Facilitate the development and implementation of the IEP and treatment plans based on PT evaluation and assessment Assess and monitor the student's functional skills and activity tolerance to create individualized treatment interventions Provide physical therapy interventions which may include but are not limited to therapeutic handling for improved function, gait training, transfer training, strengthening/stretching to all extremities, balance training, power mobility evaluation and training, and equipment maintenance and procurement Communicate and coordinate PT-related information with the student's team members to maintain IEP and ISP goals Complete required documentation including daily notes, parent correspondence, letters of medical necessity, IEP's, re-evaluations, and other reports accurately and in a timely manner Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date chart for assigned caseload Be an engaged interdisciplinary team member by communicating current needs and participating in creating collaborative solutions Participate in staff and student meetings as assigned, Orthopedic Rounds, and department in-services Provide home exercise programs, positioning/equipment instructions, and individualized training to family/caregivers of students as needed Provide individualized training on safe transfers, equipment management, and alternative positioning to staff as needed Maintain up to date knowledge of research, theories, and practices associated with the Physical Therapy profession Performs other related duties as assigned
