Key Responsibilities Complete thorough evaluations of orthopedic needs, range of motion/mobility, movement analysis and functional abilities for the patient that incorporates functional mobility skills and rehabilitative needs in the pediatric and young adult populations. Educate and demonstrate (verbally and/or in writing) therapy techniques to parents that can be incorporated into a home program; assist families in home program facilitation. Develop individualized goals for each child incorporating functional abilities with the objective of increasing daily living or performance-based skills. Develop and implement treatment programs to meet the individual needs of the child. Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and maintain professional clinical competency by attending certified CEUs in the areas of pediatrics and physical therapy. Maintain communication with the child's primary physician through progress reports or other communication measures. May participate in public speaking or community education programs that focus on issues relating to therapy and children. Assess and make recommendations regarding the use of therapeutic, adaptive, and/or positioning equipment as needed and provide written justification and coordinate purchase equipment for a child with team members, service coordinator, intake/billing specialists, families, and other allied professionals. Responsible for timely documentation of evaluation results, progress reports, discharge reports, daily notes, attendance reports, Medicaid prior authorizations and insurance justifications as required. Provide clinical supervision to Physical Therapy Assistants, students, and volunteers. Adhere to safety policies and procedures. Be an active member of a multidisciplinary treatment team to create a comprehensive developmental approach to patient-centered care. Qualification and Skill Requirements Doctorate Degree preferred, or Master's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program. Current licensure by the State of TX or eligible for licensure. Current CPR certification or obtainable within 3 months. Valid Driver's License. 1-2 years of pediatric experience preferred, though not required. Physical Requirements Duties require extensive standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Requires lifting, positioning, and/or transferring clients, including the ability to participate in physical activities and play-based therapies. May be required to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
