Job Duties:
Performs complete, in-depth evaluations and treatment plans. Plans goal-directed therapy programs for each client, involving modalities, such as exercise, massage, heat, cold, hydro, and electricity as prescribed by a physician. Performs diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests. Directs and aids client in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait and functional training. Makes use of equipment such as electrical stimulation, TENS, and ultrasound machines. Designs home programs and evaluates home ADL skills. Completes discipline specific documentation and meets deadlines. Acts as a role model for subordinates, effectively providing clear, direct feedback. Direct clients in use of wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, prosthetic and orthopedic devices. Establishes realistic, objective, functional goals based on the client/care giver goals and the overall discharge plan. Orients client/care giver to physical therapy services, treatment procedures, and discuss specific goals of treatment. Performs in home evaluations and provides recommendations. Prepares for client discharge in a timely, thorough manner, including client/care giver education/training, home visit, recommendations for home modifications and equipment needs, attaining recommended equipment prior to the client's discharge. Supervise Licensed Physical Therapy Technicians. Provide transfer training for new employees and existing employees in need of training. Participates in continuing education programs or in-services, and clinical records review. Participates in ongoing program evaluation and development. Provides ongoing recommendations regarding equipment needs for Physical therapy. Will assist with various duties to assist in the day to day management of the treatment team as assigned
Position Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Physical Therapy or DPT from an accredited institution Must have a current license to practice physical therapy in the state of Texas. Knowledge and adherence to Physical Therapy Practice Act and Code of Ethics. Ability to handle unpredictable situations, emergencies or crisis situations. Competency in applying principles materials, and equipment used in Physical Therapy. Ability to effectively delegate and organize subordinates workload to ensure that assignments are carried out as directed. Ability to identify trends in therapy data and extrapolate the information to improve treatment efficiency and quality.
