Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Physical Therapist Assistant, providing essential support to patients in the Odessa, Midland, and Monahans areas. On behalf Star Care, this position, under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, provides physical therapy treatments to home health care patients as ordered by the attending physician, within the defined scope of practice. Essential Functions Employee must have regular attendance/punctuality, be able to work with others at all levels of the Company, have exceptional customer service, and be completely honest.Other assigned duties include:
Demonstrates support for the agency mission statement to promote quality, efficient, comprehensive, and effective patient service. Participates in and supports the agency performance improvement activities. Participates in orientation, competency testing, and in-services as required. Performs on-going physical therapy assessments per standards of practice for each assigned agency patient following the plan of care developed by the PT in collaboration with the patient, RN Case Manager, and physician. Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of each assigned patient's plan of care, patient responses, revision needs, discharge plans, and progress to patient goals. Complies with all home health care regulations and standards and agency policies and procedures. Appropriately seeks supervisory assistance as necessary to effectively perform duties. Assesses and reports patient pain score to RN Case Manager. Notifies PT of changes in patient's condition or response to treatment. Maintains confidentiality of patient, personnel, and agency operations. Uses agency documentation materials and/or computer-based software to record patient treatment activity in a timely manner including patient response to interventions. Works with patient/representative to achieve therapy goals to enhance the rehabilitative ability of the patient, which may include but not be limited to: hot packs, gait training, diathermy treatments, therapeutic exercises, passive and active range of motion exercises, whirlpool baths and other related treatments to meet the patient's needs. Promotes patient, personnel, and office safety and utilizes standard precautions. Meets productivity requirements established for home health care physical therapist assistant. During patient/representative interactions identifies cultural, spiritual, verbal, and non-verbal patterns indicating a need for individualized counseling and reports this to PT. Reports on caregiver's ability to manage patient physical therapy needs. Based on patient needs, recommends to Physical Therapist equipment to promote patient comfort and safety, and when ordered and received by patient, begins equipment training. Evaluates the safety of the home environment and recommends to patient/representative potential solutions for identified concerns. Uses equipment properly and seeks training if necessary. Provides therapy education to patient/representative. Presents a professional appearance and promotes a positive work environment. Other duties as assigned.Requirements:

Maintain current state PTA license certification.Education/Training:
Graduate of a school with PTA curriculum approved by CAPTE or its successor organizations or meet any other Home Health Care Conditions of Participation PTA 42 requirements as outlined in 42 CFR 418.114(b)(8)- 418.114(b)(8) (ii) (A) (4). Successfully passed a national PTA examination recognized by the APTA. Minimum of one year of PTA experience in a health care setting, home health care experience preferred.
