Job Description
Overview Piedmont Regional Education Program in Charlottesville, VA is in need of a Part-Time Physical Therapist, where your expertise will directly impact patient recovery and well-being. This position is part time (3 days per week), however the schedule and days are flexible. In this role, you will deliver personalized physiotherapy services across diverse settings, including inpatient hospital units, outpatient clinics, and home health environments. Your passion for patient care and strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy will help patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life. This position offers a flexible schedule while providing meaningful work in a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. Duties (school setting) Assess patients' physical conditions through detailed evaluations, utilizing your expertise in physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology. Develop and implement customized care plans targeting specific needs such as orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, or post-surgical rehabilitation. Perform therapeutic interventions including trigger point therapy and other physiotherapy techniques to alleviate pain and restore function. Coordinate discharge planning and ensure seamless transitions between inpatient care, outpatient services, and home & community care settings. Document patient progress accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Educate patients and their families on exercises, injury prevention strategies, and home care routines to promote ongoing recovery. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in hospital, outpatient, or home health environments. Experience Proven experience working in inpatient hospital settings or outpatient clinics with a focus on patient care delivery. School experience is preferred. Hands-on experience with acute care scenarios, discharge planning, and developing effective care plans for diverse populations. Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation and communication within healthcare teams. Knowledge of physiotherapy techniques including trigger point therapy, orthopedics, geriatrics, and pediatrics. Strong understanding of medical terminology along with physiology and anatomy fundamentals essential for accurate assessments.
