Job Description

Physical Therapist Wage/ PRN - Peri-operative The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia $55.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. United States, Virginia, Charlottesville 1215 Lee Street (Show on map) May 11, 2026 A PRN Therapist consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of complex patients. In doing so, they contribute independently to an interdisciplinary approach to patient care service delivery across the continuum of care. This position will be primarily working with Peri-operative patient population to assist with safe disposition following surgery and provide recommendation on follow up plan of care. Please note that this position requires availability to work one late shift (8:00 PM or later, based on patient care needs) per pay period (15 days), up to a total of 12 hours per pay period, and one designated holiday. All scheduling is contingent upon patient care needs. Primary focus for this role is to provide clinical care, but they are also expected to complete administrative and clinical projects as assigned by supervisory staff if needed. They help negotiate the health care system to maximize the delivery of quality care and to minimize cost of patient care service. These therapists also seek and provide feedback for improved clinical practice across the spectrum of care in the health system. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Performs physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech language pathology evaluations according to professional standards and departmental policy. Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech language pathology intervention. Participates in professional growth activities. May actively participate in quality improvement and program development. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
For Physical Therapy:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Doctoral Degree in
Physical Therapy Experience:
1 year relevant experience
Licensure:
Licensed to practice in Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $55.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
