July 7, 2026 - August 8, 2026, up to 6 Hours/Day X 20 Days, M-Th
POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for student care under the direction of Physical Therapist. Supervises aids in direct student care and related activities as needed.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This description of the position of Physical Therapy Assistant is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs. Provide physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists\' treatment plan. Communicate with supervisor and other members interdisciplinary team members regarding student progress, problems, or plans. Record daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and completely. Maintain student records confidentially. 5. Record treatment charges daily in accurate and timely manner. Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols. Maintain work area, exam rooms and supplies. Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct. Adhere to employer work practices as described in BOE policies. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current Connecticut State Physical Therapist Assistant License Certification/Licensure. One year as a Physical Therapy Assistant or comparable internship.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Available in July for required training
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of physical therapy assistant principles and practices. Working knowledge of computer programs. Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively. Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing. Bilingual, English and Spanish. Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
