Job Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will be responsible for providing rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role is crucial in supporting patient recovery and ensuring compliance with regulatory and clinical standards within a long-term care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions. Administer procedures such as manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and assistive/supportive device use, under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Assess patient progress and communicate effectively with supervising Physical Therapists to modify treatment plans as necessary. Report treatment outcomes and provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers regarding physical disorders. Document all treatments and patient progress accurately in electronic records, maintaining compliance with all regulatory and clinical requirements. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, including care conferences, utilization reviews, and training sessions. Collaborate with the supervising Physical Therapist to acquire necessary DME or supplies and supervise/support students as needed. Adhere strictly to the APTA standards, state practice acts, ethics, and policies. Maintain active state licensure and stay updated with required continuing education.
