Job Description

Job Summary:
The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant under the direction of the Licensed Physical Therapist implements designated treatment plans, provides objective feedback on patient performance and assists in the development enhancement of the therapeutic environment. The Physical Therapy Assistant is a member of patient care team in the Department of Home Health and reports directly to the Patient Clinical Manager regarding Home Care patients. The PTA performs services planned, delegated, and supervised by the therapist. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. The PTA prepares clinical notes and progress notes, participates in educating the patient and family. Participates in in-service programs and CEU's as applicable. Prepares documentation of patient care in the home at the time of visit as applicable and submits documentation in a timely manner according to policy. Notifies PT of any changes and instructs patient and family in meeting needs. Performs other job duties as assigned.
Performance Expectations:
Demonstrates ability to operate ultrasound machine selecting appropriate settings, inspecting and troubleshooting any problems with equipment, and perform safe treatment. Documents timely in EMR according to policy and meets state and federal guidelines.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills Graduate of an approved physical therapist assistant program required.
Work Experience:
May be a recent graduate. One year of clinical experience preferred. Certification/Licensure-DUE
UPON HIRE
Permanent License as a Physical Therapy Assistant from the Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy. Valid Drivers License with proof of automobile insurance. Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below Basic Life Support Within 30
Days of Employment Required Mental Demands:
Must be able to follow instructions from the supervising physical therapist. Must have ability to assess, plan, coordinate patient care, carry out orders accurately, demonstrate initiative, prioritize, have effective and positive communication skills, and have ability to maintain rapport with patients and coworkers.
