Summary:

Join Vassar Brothers Medical Center as a Physical Therapy Assistant providing direct patient care across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Support licensed Physical Therapists in executing individualized treatment plans, delivering clinical instruction to Physical Therapy Assistant students, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Utilize your knowledge of therapeutic modalities, equipment, and patient care techniques to enhance the effectiveness of physical therapy programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct patient care services to support Physical Therapy programs.
• Manage an assigned patient caseload and provide appropriate treatment as directed.
• Assist Physical Therapists in re-evaluating patient progress and adjusting treatment plans.
• Prioritize caseload and treatment times to maximize efficiency and patient outcomes.
• Apply correct physical therapy modalities and recommend protocol adjustments when necessary.
• Identify contraindications and consult the supervising therapist as needed.
• Ensure safe and effective use of physical therapy equipment and procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with departmental standards.
• Collaborate with hospital personnel to ensure progressive and cost-efficient care.
• Uphold a safe, respectful, and professional environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Demonstrate and model Nuvance Health values and maintain reliable attendance.

Qualifications /

Minimum Requirements:

• Knowledge of physical therapy procedures, modalities, and equipment.
• Ability to perform manual tasks requiring motor coordination and dexterity.
• Capacity for heavy physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work in environments with noise, odors, and exposure to human waste.

Preferred /

Additional Skills:

• Experience assisting licensed Physical Therapists in inpatient or outpatient settings.
• Familiarity with clinical instruction and mentoring Physical Therapy Assistant students.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
