Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant is an individual who has graduated from an accredited school of Physical Therapy with a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy, Bachelor of Science degree preferred. The Physical Therapist Assistant must also possess a current license to practice physical therapy in the State of Ohio and who has successfully passed the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). Their primary responsibility is to provide patient care to which they are assigned in accordance with State licensing regulations, departmental standards, and policies, and accepted professional standards of care. The Physical Therapy Assistant reports to the Physical Therapy Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the examination and evaluation of the patient's physical therapy needs. In collaboration with the patient and/or caregiver and the Physical Therapist assist in the formulation of a physical therapy diagnosis, treatment plan with treatment goals directed towards maximizing function. Demonstrates competency in all clinical knowledge and skills specific to the patient case type(s) in assigned area of care. Consults with other members of the health care team to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies provided. Assists in implementation of triaging, prioritizing, monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges to and from the service as assigned. Assist with managing the patient caseload assigned. Participates in activities that increase knowledge and skill and professional development. Participates in departmental meetings, which help to formulate policies, procedures, and program development. Supervises aides and other support personnel as appropriate. Supervises students and other individuals seeking educational experiences related to physical therapy. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program with a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy along with a Bachelor Degree is preferred. Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy from the State of Ohio. Successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). BLS certification required upon hire.
