Rehabilitation Services |Status:
Full-Time About the Role Val Verde Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Rehabilitation Services team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care focused on restoring function, improving mobility, and enhancing overall quality of life. As part of our community-owned, nonprofit healthcare system, you will play a vital role in helping patients recover from injury, illness, or disability while supporting their journey toward independence and optimal performance. What You'll Do Administer physical therapy treatments and modalities as directed by the Physical Therapist Assist patients in improving mobility, strength, and functional independence Observe and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist Support development and implementation of individualized treatment plans Educate patients and families on exercises, safety, and home care techniques Ensure safe, clean, and organized treatment environments Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with hospital standards Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives (CQI) Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program Current PTA licensure/certification (Texas or eligible) BLS (Basic Life Support) certification Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, anatomy, and rehabilitation techniques Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a hospital or clinical rehabilitation setting Bilingual abilities (Spanish preferred) Experience working with diverse patient populations (pediatric through geriatric) Key Competencies Patient-centered care and empathy Strong observational and documentation skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Organizational skills and attention to detail Flexibility and ability to perform in a fast-paced clinical setting Work Environment & Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting Ability to assist patients with mobility and transfers Exposure to clinical environments and medical equipment Requires adherence to all safety and infection control protocols Why Join VVRMC?
