Job Description

Job Summary:
Responsible for following the written physical therapy Plan of Care (POC) and providing physical therapy treatment. Administers treatments and physical agent modalities to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Ensures that patient changes are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety, and fire safety programs. Committed to excellence through the continuous improvement of the quality of services delivered. Creates and maintains a culture to continuously improve patient and employee satisfaction. Job Description Communicates and updates the supervising physical therapist of patient's progress/changes and any information pertinent to patient's care in a timely manner. Follows the written Plan of Care (POC) to meet the patient's needs. Provides physical therapy to all patients that are evaluated by supervising physical therapist in all populations: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Follows POC and follows the payor source guidelines to ensure proper billing of each payor source. Manages the POC and its goals to meet the individual's needs Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the development of the POC. Educates patient, family, and caregivers about the POC to increase patient outcomes and achieve their goals and success in therapy.
Demonstrates knowledge of physical modalities:
benefits, precautions, and contraindications for use on patients. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, socio-economical and/or religious/spiritual needs of all patients and their families. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly, requests education about new equipment. Interacts professionally with Interdisciplinary Team and Colleagues to create teamwork to increase patient outcomes. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, nursing staff, patient, family, caregivers, and administrative team. Follows hospital policies to ensure safety to patients. Maintains records pertinent to the operation of the department. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, to be organized and to function under stressful situations. Assists with all other duties as assigned by manager and hospital management to include but not limited to housekeeping, clerical, maintenance, etc.
Regulatory Requirements:
Current State Physical Therapy Assistant Licensure, graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy Assistant Program with a certificate in Physical Therapy Assistant. Current BCLS (CPR) certification.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred. Strong written and verbal skills.
Skills:
Basic computer knowledge Knowledge of physical medicine, physical agent modalities, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Knowledge of physical agent modalities operation, physical agent precautions and contraindications, maintenance, and safety of equipment.
