The Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, contributing to curriculum development, engaging in scholarly activity, and supporting programmatic and institutional service. This role requires a balance of teaching, clinical expertise, and active participation in accreditation and continuous improvement efforts. Responsibilities Deliver didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical education instruction within the DPT curriculum. Participate in curriculum design, implementation, and ongoing assessment to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and best practices. Advise and mentor students, including academic and professional development guidance. Engage in scholarly activity, including research, publication, and/or professional presentations. Contribute to programmatic assessment, accreditation compliance (e.g., CAPTE), and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work. Maintain clinical competence and professional development in physical therapy practice. Collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to support student clinical education experiences. Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy (DPT, PhD, EdD, or related field). Active, unencumbered Physical Therapist (PT) license in a United States jurisdiction, with the ability to comply with the West Virginia practice act. Minimum of three (3) years of full-time, post-licensure clinical practice experience. At least two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Serving as a Site Coordinator of Clinical Education (SCCE) or Clinical Instructor (CI) in physical therapy; or Teaching, curriculum development, and/or administration within a physical therapist education program. Prior teaching experience in a CAPTE-accredited DPT program is preferred. Strong instructional and communication skills in both classroom and clinical settings. Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum development and program assessment. Commitment to student-centered learning and professional mentorship. Ability to work collaboratively in an academic and clinical environment. Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements in physical therapy education. Ability to demonstrate and instruct physical therapy techniques. Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during instruction. Occasional lifting, positioning, or assisting of students or equipment consistent with clinical instruction needs.
