Job Description

This locum tenens Cardiovascular Surgery APP opportunity in Redding, California is seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners with recent cardiovascular surgical experience and strong endovascular vein harvesting (EVH) skills. The provider will support a busy cardiovascular surgery team at a Level II Trauma Center, assisting with cardiac and thoracic procedures, postoperative management, patient rounding, and clinic follow-up care.

Responsibilities Facility Information Location:
Redding, California Setting:
Level II Trauma Center Coverage needed due to staffing gaps Clinical Responsibilities First assist in cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures Perform endovascular vein harvesting (EVH) Participate in daily inpatient rounds with cardiovascular surgeons Write and manage postoperative patient notes Assist in the management of postoperative cardiovascular surgery patients Provide outpatient follow-up care in hospital-based clinic settings Tuesday and Thursday afternoon clinic coverage, typically following morning surgeries Evaluate and manage occasional urgent patient concerns outside of scheduled clinic sessions Patient Volume Approximately heart surgeries per month Additional thoracic surgery cases requiring APP assistance Generally fewer than 10 cardiovascular patients hospitalized at one time Up to 6 follow-up clinic patients per session

Maquet Hemopro 2 Required Skills & Qualifications Required Experience Recent and substantial cardiovascular surgical first-assist experience Extensive endovascular vein harvesting (EVH) experience (required and mandatory for consideration) Experience should be clearly documented in the presentation package Certifications & Licensure Board Certified PA or NP Active state medical license ACLS certification BLS certification Active DEA registration Credentialing Requirements Clean malpractice history No license actions or hospital privilege restrictions Must be on active/current medical staff at a Joint Commission (TJC) accredited facility with unrestricted privileges Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation Availability for all requested coverage dates Key Requirement Candidates without recent, substantial cardiovascular surgical assisting experience and proven EVH proficiency will not be considered.
