Physician Assistant - Surgery University of California San Francisco - 4.1 San Francisco, CA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications BLS Certification ACLS Certification DEA License Physician Assistant License PA-C Full Job Description The General Surgery Physician Assistant complements and assists the work of the attending faculty, surgical fellow, and surgical residents to provide integrative inpatient and outpatient care for the surgery services, which include acute care, gastrointestinal, bariatric, colorectal, hepatopancreatobiliary, surgical oncology, breast, plastic, and endocrine surgery. The General Surgery Physician Assistant serves as a high-level professional, whose activities span the full range of care of adult surgical patients, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care under the supervision of attending physicians and residents. Full assumption of these responsibilities will follow a training period, during which time the General Surgery Physician Assistant will be monitored by a physician supervisor to determine that knowledge and skills have reached the appropriate level. The Physician Assistant will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Section Chief of General 2 Surgery, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated as primary and consultative services.
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA). Physician Assistant (less than five (5) years of experience as a PA): AT least one year of PA experience in General Surgery or completion of the UCSF Surgical and Critical Care Medicine APP Fellowship. Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position. Physician Assistant Senior (five (5) or more years of experience as a PA):
1-2 years of PA experience in General Surgery.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years or greater PA experience in an acute or critical care setting with the general surgery patient population within the past five years, including independent ambulatory patient encounters and surgical first assisting in surgeries Completion of an advanced practice fellowship in a surgical specialty and ability to provide evidence of completion Possess the skills, knowledge and abilities to care for General Surgery patients in the following categories: acute care, gastrointestinal, bariatric, colorectal, surgical oncology, breast, plastic, hepatopancreatobiliary, and endocrine surgery
Licensure/Certifications:
