As a Physician Assistant, you will be working closely with and under the supervision of the MD, treating patients with acute to sub-acute musculoskeletal, neurologic and orthopedic injuries. This position involves minimal opioid management. You will be examining patients, collecting patient medical history, and making tentative diagnoses. You will also be reading diagnostic tests and reports, interpreting data, taking the time with each patient to explain their test results and medical diagnoses, and prescribing therapy or medication with a physician's approval. The ideal candidate has an excellent bedside manner, experience charting in a medical environment, and has strong communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities and Duties Perform complete, detailed and accurate histories. Perform orthopedic, musculoskeletal and neurologic examinations. Record pertinent data in acceptable medical forms. Order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies as medically appropriate. Interpret and evaluate patient data to determine medical diagnoses and develop treatment plan. Write prescriptions for medications and medical equipment. Order therapy or referrals to other physicians and appropriate health care facilities. Provide instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters to patients. Complete forms pertinent to patients' medical records and care in a timely manner. Appropriately transcribe and execute specific orders at the direction of the Supervising Physician. Perform or assist in the following medical procedures and laboratory techniques: Injections - subcutaneous, intramuscular. Sterile field preparation for procedures. Utilize sterile technique for assisting in pain management procedures. Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, stroke, shock, and convulsions. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Comply with current federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Develop health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and professional growth opportunities. Qualifications Valid state licensing required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience with medical terminology, charting, and diagnostic tests Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
