This role plays a critical part in supporting Unity Health Care's mission to deliver compassionate and culturally competent care to underserved populations across Washington, DC. Key Responsibilities Provide preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services under physician supervision Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations Order and interpret laboratory and radiologic tests Diagnose medical conditions and prescribe medications, including controlled substances (with DEA license) Provide health education, preventive care, and participate in screening programs Manage acute and chronic conditions within scope of practice Refer patients to specialists, hospitals, and community resources as appropriate Provide urgent care and coordinate hospital transfers when necessary Ensure documentation includes supervising physician's name and is completed accurately and timely Submit delegation agreement to the DC Medical Board Ensure clinical notes and orders are countersigned within required timeframes (10 days) Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on patient care plans Participate in peer reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and required meetings Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program Successful completion of the NCCPA certification exam Active Physician Assistant license in the District of Columbia (or eligibility to obtain) DEA registration (or ability to obtain) Strong commitment to serving medically underserved populations Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary with performance incentives Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Retirement plan with employer contribution Generous paid time off (PTO) and CME allowance Malpractice coverage provided HRSA Loan Repayment Program eligibility for qualified candidatesSimilar jobs in Washington, DC
