The Cardiovascular Surgery program is now led by Dr. Lawrence Lee, MD, MBA, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in mitral valve disease, complex multivalve and structural heart pathology. Dr. Lee trained at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, completed advanced research in ischemic cardiomyopathy, and most recently served as Chief of Cardiac Surgery and Surgical Director of the Structural Heart Program at Tufts Medical Center. His vision emphasizes clinical excellence, innovation, and strong APP-physician collaboration. Position Summary Under the supervision of the cardiovascular surgeons, the PA-C or

Central Florida Physician Assistant, PA-C, or Nurse Practitioner, APRN-RNFA Serving AdventHealth Orlando or AdventHealth Celebration General Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the Cardiovascular Surgery PA-C or
APRN-RNFA
will perform cardiovascular surgical preparation procedures, per-operative and post-operative procedures, and assists in performing cardiovascular surgical procedures. Provide patient and family with pre-operative education, answer questions regarding surgery, recovery and risk factor modification. Obtain and perform history and physical examinations. Record and interpret pertinent data (labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.) including writing orders and discharges. First assisting in cardiovascular surgery, vein and radial artery harvesting, first assisting with CABG, valve, aortic and thoracic surgery. Ability to perform general peri-surgical procedures in the hospital and clinic. Admit patients, attend rounds, complete discharge summaries with medication reconciliation and appropriate follow-up. Management of patients both pre- and post-implantation for Ventricular Assist Devices and Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Management of patients undergoing Trans Catheter Valve Procedures.

Monday through Friday Weeknight on call responsibilities with rotating weekend coverage Campuses covered:

Master's degree in physician assistant studies or APRN Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) experience Practicing experience as a cardiothoracic/cardiovascular surgery PA or
APRN-RNFA
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients. Strong communication skills Strong medical decision-making skills
Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
