St.Vincent Trauma Shift Details :
Full-time, 12 hour shifts (7a-7p) and/or (7p-7a) providing 24/7/365 coverage, while supporting seven board certified orthopedic trauma surgeons. Shifts include days, overnights, weekends and holidays. The Advanced Practice Provider provides orthopedic trauma care at St. Vincent Level 1 Trauma Center. The Advanced Practice Provider is the first call for orthopedic consults for the ER and inpatient hospital patients. Our Trauma APPs work 12 hour shifts (7a-7p) or (7p-7a). They provide 24/7/365 coverage, while supporting seven board certified orthopedic trauma surgeons. Shifts include days, overnights, weekends and holidays.Essential Duties:
Assesses patients and assesses normal and abnormal findings obtained from history and physical examination as well as radiology and ancillary studies. Orders radiologic and laboratory tests and studies as necessary to complete history and physical examinations. Provides direct patient treatment, including but not limited to: administering nerve and hematoma blocks, reduction of fractures and dislocations, applying and removing casts and splints, joint aspirations and injections, applying and or removing traction, wound care, changing dressing and vac dressing, removing sutures and staples, cauterizations and inserting drains. Serves as first assistant in the operating room. Plans and implements care of doctor's patients, including; entering orders into the patient record that are verbal orders or part of standing orders or protocols approved by the supervising Physician. Provides patient and family instruction on the proper use and care of braces, splints, and other DME products. Helps to counsel individuals and families about their health-related issues. Communicates individualized teaching plans to patients based on their needs. Attends and performs rounds to assist Physician when possible.Requirements:
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner degree and Indiana licensure required; Master's Degree preferred National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or American Association of Nurse Practitioners certification required Indiana Physician Assistant Committee or Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana certification required 3 or more years of related experience preferred OrthoIndy is an Equal Opportunity EmployerSimilar jobs in Indianapolis, IN
