Job Description

Overview Job Summary Provides clinical leadership and oversight focusing on the Orthopedic Service Line. Provides oversight and support to Medical Staff Office concerning Advanced Practice Provider Credentialing. Responsibilities Principal Duties and Responsibilities (•Essential Functions) Under direction, to perform work, providing medical services to patients within the scope of their Physician Assistant license to practice in the State of Indiana in a physician office/hospital setting. Works closely with Director of Orthopedics concerning clinical pathways, protocols and quality performance improvement initiatives. Assists with reporting and tracking of key Service Line metrics. Works closely with Operations Manager of Orthopedics concerning Physician Assistant schedules in OR and clinic. Provides support to multiple physicians and staff to assist with patient care. Works closely with OR and Sterile Processing Department to ensure OR throughput. Works closely with Case Management teams for timely discharge. Provides oversight to ensure Advanced Practice Provider compliance concerning Joint Commission Standards and Hospital policies. Provides support to Medical Staff Office concerning chart review for Advanced Practice Provider applications for Credentialing Committee. Performs a complete physical exam, including the complete system on patients identifying abnormalities and changes, documents findings in the patients chart and relays pertinent information to the physician. Identifies potential areas of program development, developing strategic implementation plan, identifying, implementing and coordinating program development objectives from the clinical and nursing perspective, continuous monitoring and implementation of the most efficient and effective patient care systems, designing and implementing of clinical research and quality improvement projects. Provides leadership and direction for the program and office staff, and mentors office staff providing leadership and directions. Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned. Qualifications Job Specifications (Minimum Requirements) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the adolescent, young adult, middle and geriatric patient served within the service line. Demonstrated knowledge of the principle of growth and development over the life span. Demonstrates a high degree of independent action, constantly seeks new information and sources. Professional leadership evident through membership and active involvement in the professional community and organizations, Ability to assess and interpret data about the patients status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and to provide the care needed by the adolescent, young adult, middle adult, and geriatric patient groups services. Ability to update and maintain current knowledge based through continuing education. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
