Job Description

Critical Care Physician Assistant Location:
Boston, MA Job Type:
Locum Tenens /
Full-Time Overview:
A teaching hospital is seeking a Critical Care Physician Assistant to provide coverage in an ICU setting. This role functions as a responding clinician, focusing on patient management and coordination of care rather than performing procedures.
Compensation:
$110/hr
Assignment Details:
Start:
August 1, 2026 Ongoing coverage Full-time position
Schedule:
Rotating day and night shifts: 6:00 AM 7:00 PM 6:00 PM 7:00 AM Includes weekends and holidays Minimum of 2 weekend shifts per month
Practice Details:
Setting:
ICU (teaching hospital)
EMR:
Epic Adult and geriatric patient population Multidisciplinary team with attending physicians, fellows, and APPs Supervision provided on all shifts
Patient Volume:
Average daily census: 7 patients Unit size: 10 beds
Responsibilities:
Participate in daily rounding with attending physicians Manage patient care plans and clinical tasks Respond to changes in patient condition Collaborate with care team for ongoing management No procedural responsibilities
Clinical Scope:
General ICU and medical-surgical patient management Limited exposure to burn patients No involvement in advanced procedures (e.g., intubations, lines, ventilator management, transplants, or complex neuro cases)
Requirements:
Board Certified Physician Assistant (Acute Care/Critical Care) Required Active Massachusetts License Required ACLS and BLS Required DEA Required Minimum 2 years of critical care experience Required Epic experience Required Must be local to the area
Required Credentialing:
Estimated timeframe: 90 days
