Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Surgical Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our Plastic Surgery practice. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with the Plastic Surgeon to provide comprehensive patient care in both clinical and surgical settings. Responsibilities include preoperative evaluations, assisting in the operating room, postoperative care, patient education, and office-based procedures. Monday to Friday, No weekend or hospital call duties/ Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Conduct patient histories and physical examinations. Evaluate patients for reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery procedures. Develop and implement treatment plans under physician supervision. Order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic studies, and imaging. Provide patient counseling regarding surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and postoperative expectations. Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record. Surgical Duties First assist the Plastic Surgeon in the operating room. Prepare patients for surgery, including preoperative assessments and surgical site preparation. Perform wound closure, suturing, dressing application, and drain management. Assist with reconstructive and cosmetic procedures including breast surgery, body contouring, and skin cancer reconstruction. Participate in perioperative management and postoperative follow-up care. Office-Based Procedures Perform minor procedures within the PA scope of practice. Assist with cosmetic treatments such as injectables, and skin procedures, as permitted by training and state regulations. Manage postoperative concerns, wound care, and complications. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation. Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and practice development activities. Ensure compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and practice protocols. Qualifications Required Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current Physician Assistant certification (PA-C). Active state licensure or eligibility for licensure. BLS and ACLS certification. Preferred Prior surgical experience, preferably in Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, or related surgical specialties. Experience serving as a first assist in the operating room. Knowledge of cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
