Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides patient care for the Capital Region Trauma practice. Performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide health care services, such as operative procedures, suturing, and injections. Makes initial diagnosis and orders appropriate tests and treatment. Assists in surgery where applicable. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a Physician Assistant Training Program approved by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance is required National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required CPR required BLS required ACLS and/or other relevant certifications as required by the department At least 3-5 years of experience as a Physician Assistant is required Experience in Inpatient and ambulatory care is highly preferred Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit/area/department policies and procedures Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters Maintains updated mandatory training Updates immunizations as recommended per practice area Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
