Variable based on need - 13-hour shifts. (7a-730p, until work is done)
Setting:
100% inpatient. Adults, if pediatrics stabilize and transfer out.
Call/Weekends:
No call. Not immediate need for weekends but must have availability for future need.
Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health is seeking an internal, contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Stroke Response Program at Henry Ford Providence Novi. This APP will respond to all Code Stroke activations in the Emergency Department and throughout the hospital for admitted patients, coordinate activation of Interventional Radiology as needed, and follow patients through post-TNK administration or post-intervention, including post-operative checks. Responsibilities include daily rounding and completion of progress notes on stroke patients, providing patient education in accordance with stroke care guidelines, preparing patients for discharge and ensuring required prescriptions are submitted, and maintaining routine communication with the neurology and neuroendovascular teams. Death pronouncements may be required as part of this role. Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat work-related injuries and illnesses
  • Manage bloodborne pathogen exposures and vaccination programs
  • Perform medical surveillance and respirator fit testing
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and CDC guidelines Employment contingent upon credentialing and completion of Employee Health screening per HFHS policy.
Qualifications:
NP or PA graduate from an accredited program National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA) BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire) DEA CSL (PA only) Minimum 2 years acute care experience ENLS certification NIHSS certification Prior experience with Stroke Response Care. Internal - HFHS Employee. Education & Training
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
  • Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Licensure
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan. Certification
NP:
National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
    PA:
    Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Required Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) - required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required (may be obtained after hire) DEA /
    Controlled Substance Licensure PA:
    DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
    NP:
    DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
