Key Position Details:
Join Our Team at Allina Health Cancer Institute! We are seeking a Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant to become an integral part of our dynamic surgical team.
Position Highlights:
Full-Time role based at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, with occasional coverage at other metro Allina Health Cancer Institute locations.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, with weekend rounding approximately 1 in every 7 weeks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as a key member of the surgical team, with a primary focus in the Operating Room (OR) supporting procedures in: Breast Surgery Surgical Oncology Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Thoracic Surgery Urology Gynecology Provide some inpatient rounding across these multidisciplinary surgical specialties.
Job Description:
Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team. Principle Responsibilities Provides clinical care for patients Completes comprehensive patient assessments. Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness. Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician. Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment. Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care. Refers for specialty care when determined. Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear. Participates in health care team Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff. Acts as resource to members of the team. Works with primary care team for program development. Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed. Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master's degree
  • Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a PA in surgical oncology/surgical role Licenses/Certifications Licensed Physician Assistant
  • MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire

Tier 2
  • Multisource required within 180 Days Certification as Physician Assistant
  • NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire Physical Demands Medium Work

Pay Range Pay Range:
$135,096 to $164,216 per year The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
