JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities/Job Description:
Fairview Health Services is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our Neurosurgery team at M Health Fairview. The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (PA) is a member of the health care team who works in collaboration with licensed physicians to provideprehensive health care services to patients in the Neurosurgery practice location. The APP evaluates, diagnoses, and treats neurosurgery critical care telemetry patients in collaboration with Neurosurgery, Critical Care and the Hospital Medicine Service Physicians/Providers and staff.
Job Highlights:
Largely clinic-based, but OR and hospital coverage will still be part of this role. Clinics covered will primarily be Princeton, Fridley and Edina, but cross-coverage is possible at any of ourmunity neurosurgery clinics. As part of the larger call pool, call coverage would also cover Southdale, St John's, Woodwinds and Ridges. Weekend rotation - roughly 1:6. Responsibilities Systematically assesses patients health status, arrives at appropriate diagnosis(es), and implements care plan for effective clinical oues. Maintains kledge of, andplies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements. Ensures assigned patients are properly and efficiently admitted and receive appropriate and responsive medical care according to their condition, symptoms and diagnosis. Develops a plan of care in conjunctions with other primary and specialty physicians and interdisciplinary staff to ensure quality care of patients. Communicates effectively with primary and specialist physicians. Communicates with patients and families to explain diagnosis, procedures, expected diagnostic or therapeutic treatments, prognosis and/or recovery periods, and potential or expected oues; and to obtain informed consent. Proactivelymunicates with other clinicians in order to affect a coordinated and timely transfer of information necessary to advance quality care and oues for outpatients. Collaborates, consults andmunicates with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers and staff throughout the continuum of care. Participates in assigned work teams, co-managementmittees and Fairview department meetings to develop programs, protocols and assist in the overall improvement of quality of care and operations. Documents patients history and physical (H&P) exams, diagnosis, treatment, orders, and clinical progress in the chart, in order to allow forplete collection oforbidity andplication information for use by hospital medical records and coding staff. Dictates discharge or transfer of care summaries to allow for timelymunication. Returns pages and phone to clarify orders, arrange transfers, follow-up on tests and answer patient, family, and staff questions. Provides care to the patients in the ICU as well as the step down and Med/Surg units within the scope of practice for ACNP developed by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the American Nurses Association. First assist in the OR and procedures can be a responsibility for appropriately trained candidate Required Qualifications Graduate of master s level or higher PA program Physician Assistant and Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Approved or eligible for prescriptive authority and Meets threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileging and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) •Ability to obtain and/or maintain. At least 2+ years of previous experience as a provider in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, etc is required.
Qualifications:
$125,174.40- $180,814.40 Annual
