Career Interest:
Under the direction and supervision of the department's management and RN, the PCT assists the nurse in providing quality patient care to patients. Assists physician with patient care, takes vital signs, completes registration process, collects patient identification and demographics, answer phones, schedules appointments and maintains fax queue. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Collects initial and on-going data as delegated in regards to the health status of the patient based on chart documentation.
  • Follows an individualized plan of care that promotes positive immediate and long-term outcomes for the patient/family and reflects the plan of the entire health care team.
  • Carries out interventions safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes as delegated.
  • Accurately documents patient response to intervention /therapy based upon expected outcomes.
  • Carries out delegated patient care activities and communicates with other members of the healthcare team as evidenced by positive patient outcomes.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

  • Successful completion of an accredited certified medical assistant training program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) Required Licensure and Certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or must complete BLS certification with in the first two weeks of employment. Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Must be willing to become certified medical assistant within one year of employment. Knowledge Requirements
  • Knowledge of general medical assistant functions.
