Additional Information About the Role Orthopedics Unit (17500) - 17th Floor- 23 Bed Unit Common diagnoses: total joint replacements, bone fractures, pathological fractures, cervical fusions/discectomies, skin flaps Join our Nurse Practitioner team at BJH! Our NPs care for a variety of Orthopedic Surgery patients including total joint replacement/revisions, specialized soft tissue coverage, traumatic injuries and orthopedic tumors. Our Orthopedic Physicians are proudly partnered with the St. Louis Blues and STL City Soccer Club! 3 clinical shifts per week-Night shift Flexible Scheduling No "On Call" Orthopedic Surgery NPs do not staff Major Holidays Great medical benefits 401(k) Nurse Practitoner or Physician Assistant Overview Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The advanced practice provider functions within their scope of practice as a healthcare provider, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families. The role demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered within the inpatient setting. This position demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.

Minimum Board Certification(s):

Barnes Jewish Hospital (BJH): Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP- with appropriate experience)St. Louis Children's Hospital (SLCH): Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care (CPNP-PC), Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (CPNP-AC), or FNPPreferred Board Certification(s):
BJH:
Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
SLCH:
CPNP-AC Responsibilities Provides compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient and family-centered care for health recovery, illness prevention, treatment of critically ill, or end-of-life care. Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs in an academic inpatient setting. Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other health professionals. Demonstrates the highest level of accountability for professional practice by participating in professional development, quality initiative/performance activities, and implementing standards of care within area of specialization. BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job. Minimum Requirements Education Master's Degree - Nursing, Physician Assistant Experience
