Job Description

Position Summary:
The Physician Assistant (PA) in the Surgical Services Office provides high-quality patient care in collaboration with surgeons and the healthcare team. This role includes pre-operative and post-operative patient management, clinical assessments, patient education, and administrative support to ensure efficient surgical workflows and optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories and physical examinations. Assist in developing and implementing patient care plans under physician supervision. Perform pre-operative assessments and ensure patients are medically optimized for surgery. Provide post-operative care, including wound checks, suture/staple removal, and follow-up evaluations. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, etc.). Assist in minor procedures as appropriate within scope of practice. Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, risks, recovery expectations, and post-operative care. Address patient questions and concerns, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction. Provide discharge instructions and coordinate follow-up care. Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and administrative staff to coordinate surgical schedules. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Assist with pre-authorizations, referrals, and insurance documentation as needed. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
Licensed (or eligible) as a Physician Assistant in New York State. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are preferred. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR). Competitive Salary based on experience:
$110,000 to $145,000 per year DOE
