Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant

We are hiring a Cardio Thoracic Physician Assistant - Direct Hire for one of our clients in Oceanside, NY.

Job Description:

The Physician Assistant will support the surgical open-heart program. Provide support and accountability as an experienced PA in the clinical area of expertise, and displays leadership and mentorship to designated PA team, associated medical teams and staff. The Physician Assistant maintains clinical responsibility for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. Performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive, and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire.

Qualifications Responsibilities:

Education Required Must complete in-house orientation program Graduation from Accredited Physician Assistant Program, Masters preferred

Experience and Skills Skills Required:

Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Speaks, reads and writes English Basic Microsoft Office Use Previous Epic software use preferred

License/Certifications:

Current NYS Physician Assistant Licensure/Registration. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the NYS Board of Medicine Current unrestricted DEA certificate for mid-level providers. (Full schedule: 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5) NYS Mandated Infection Control Course Certificate (renewable every four years) Current

BLS, ACLS

for assigned areas of practice.

Experience Required:

Recent OR experience required. Recent experience as a Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist and harvesting preferred.

Working Conditions Other information:

Working Conditions Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn Moderate Physical Activity required. Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods of time.
