Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The RNFA works in collaboration with the surgeon and healthcare team to obtain optimum patient care. The RNFA practices at the direction of the surgeon and does not concurrently function as scrub nurse.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interviewing the surgical patient for a comprehensive health history and performing nursing physical assessments. 2. Evaluate patient needs to provide education and emotional support as necessary. 3. Collaborating with the surgeon and as a liaison with the surgical team to ensure optimal surgical environment and outcome. 4. Writing pre-operative orders according to protocol. 5. Assisting the anesthesia team when applicable. 6. Assisting with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping. 7. Providing wound exposure, handling tissue through appropriate use of instruments. 8. Providing homeostasis. 9. Performing wound closure and application of surgical dressings. 10. Writing post-operative orders, discharge instructions according to protocol. 11. Assisting with the safe delivery of the patient to recovery. 12. Participating in necessary post-operative care and teaching. 13. Works late as assigned in advance. 14. Serves as a resource for clinical questions. 15. Uses good work safety habits. 16. Flexes time to suit facility needs. 17. Other Duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
1. Currently registered to practice professional nursing in New York State. 2. Certification in Peri-operative Nursing-CNOR. 3. Successful completion of an RNFA program. 4. Compliance with credentialing policies.
PHYSICAL/PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Standing and walking for long periods (up to 8-10 hours). Ability to lift, move, or position patients and equipment (25-50 lbs). Frequent bending, reaching, and assisting with patient transfers. Ability to respond quickly in urgent or emergent situations. Clear vision and hearing to monitor patients and surgical environment. Fine motor skills for handling instruments, equipment, and documentation. Ability to wear PPE for extended periods (masks, gowns, gloves, lead aprons). Exposure to bodily fluids, chemicals, and surgical equipment.
Pay:
$45.00 - $55.00 per hour
