Department:
Radiation Oncology / Cancer Care Services Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our multidisciplinary Radiation Oncology team. In this role, you will work closely with our Radiation Oncologists, medical physicists, therapists, and nursing staff to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to patients undergoing radiation therapy.

From initial consultation through treatment management and long-term survivorship follow-ups, you will serve as a vital clinical resource and a compassionate advocate for our patients and their families. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Assessment & Care Management Conduct comprehensive initial consultations, detailed histories, and physical examinations for newly diagnosed cancer patients. Collaborate with attending Radiation Oncologists to formulate, implement, and monitor patient treatment plans. Perform routine on-treatment evaluations (OTVs) to assess patient tolerance, manage treatment-related side effects, and provide supportive care interventions. Continuity of Care & Follow-Up Conduct independent and collaborative post-treatment follow-up visits to monitor for tumor recurrence and manage long-term toxicities. Coordinate care with medical oncology, surgical oncology, primary care, and other specialists to ensure seamless care transitions. Order and interpret necessary diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and imaging studies (CT, MRI, PET scans). Patient Advocacy & Procedures Provide robust patient and family education regarding radiation treatment processes, expected outcomes, toxicity management, and survivorship. Participate in or assist with specialized clinical procedures as required by the department (e.g., simulation planning, fiducial marker placement assistance, or brachytherapy procedures, depending on experience and training). Document all patient encounters accurately and efficiently within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Qualifications & SkillsRequired Education:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Licensure:
Current, unrestricted state license to practice as a Physician Assistant (or eligible to obtain prior to start date).
Certification:
Active NCCPA certification.
Prescriptive Authority:
Active DEA registration and state prescriptive authority.
Life Support:
Current BLS and ACLS certifications. Preferred Experience & Attributes Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience as a PA, ideally within oncology, radiation oncology, or a related surgical/medical specialty. Strongly motivated new graduates with a dedicated oncology rotation are welcome to apply. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a deep capacity for empathy and patience when working with oncology patients facing complex diagnoses. Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work autonomously within a collaborative team environment.
