Full Job Description Job Description:
VA Orthopedic Game Ready Specialist Company:
Veterans 1st
Position Type:
1099 Contract (Independent Contractor)
Location:
Aurora, CO Work Model:
Hybrid - On-site visits to VA facilities, surgeon offices, and clinics combined with remote coordination and follow-up Position Summary Veterans 1st is seeking experienced, results-driven independent contractors to drive adoption of Game Ready cold and compression therapy systems for post-operative orthopedic care within the VA healthcare system. This role focuses on identifying high-volume inpatient orthopedic procedures at local VA medical centers and securing prescriptions for Game Ready devices, which are 100% covered by the VA for eligible Veterans —with no billing to the Veteran . A key secondary focus is building relationships with community-based orthopedic surgeons who handle VA referrals to extend Game Ready access to as many surgical Veterans as possible. The ideal candidate has established relationships in high-volume orthopedic environments (VA or hospital systems) and a proven ability to navigate institutional and physician networks to achieve prescription volume goals. Key Responsibilities Identify and map high-volume inpatient orthopedic operations, procedures (e.g., joint replacements, fracture repairs, spine surgeries, reconstructions), and key decision-makers within the local VA system. Secure Game Ready prescriptions by educating VA orthopedic teams, surgeons, and relevant staff on the clinical and recovery benefits of the device. Develop and cultivate relationships with community orthopedic surgeons who manage VA-referred cases to expand prescriptions beyond the VA facility. Conduct on-site presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions at VA facilities and surgeon offices. Track and report on procedure volumes, prescription progress, and opportunities using company-provided tools. Collaborate remotely with Veterans 1st leadership on strategy, while executing locally in your assigned market. Maintain compliance with all VA policies, contracting rules, and ethical standards for vendor interactions. Why Game Ready? - Post-Op Benefits Game Ready combines active cold therapy with intermittent compression in a portable, easy-to-use system that outperforms traditional ice and elevation methods for many patients.
Key benefits include:
Reduced pain and swelling more effectively than conventional RICE protocols. Lower opioid consumption — many patients experience decreased need for pain medication and may discontinue opioids earlier. Faster recovery and improved outcomes — including better range of motion, reduced blood loss in some cases, and higher patient satisfaction. Convenient home use — supporting Veterans through critical early post-op phases with professional-grade therapy. This leads to better healing, greater comfort, and accelerated return to daily activities for our Veterans. Requirements Established relationships and access to key orthopedic stakeholders (surgeons, department heads, PAs, case managers) in high-volume inpatient orthopedic settings, particularly VA or large hospital systems. Demonstrated success in medical device sales, pharmaceutical sales, or healthcare contracting—especially within government or institutional environments. Strong understanding of orthopedic procedures and post-operative care pathways. Self-motivated with excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently in a hybrid model (on-site facility visits + remote). Professional demeanor and commitment to serving Veterans. Must comply with all VA vendor credentialing and conflict-of-interest requirements. Previous VA or military healthcare network experience is highly preferred. Only candidates with relevant existing relationships in target high-volume orthopedic locations will be considered. Compensation Competitive 1099 commission-based structure with strong earning potential tied directly to prescription volume and account performance. Details provided during discussion with qualified candidates. How to Apply If you have the relationships and drive to make a meaningful impact on Veteran recovery outcomes, submit your resume. Veterans 1st - Putting Veterans First through superior post-operative care solutions. We look forward to partnering with the right contractors to expand access to Game Ready for those who have served.
