Full-Time Position Overview Texas Joint Institute (TJI), one of the leading high-volume orthopedic groups in North Texas, is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join the Adult Reconstruction / Total Joint team led by Dr. Charles Toulson. This is a specialized elective orthopedic role focused on hip and knee arthroplasty, including both primary and revision joint replacement care within a high-performance, outcomes-driven practice. The position is ideal for a PA who thrives in a fast-paced, surgeon-led environment with an emphasis on efficiency, perioperative optimization, and continuity of care. Practice Highlights High-volume elective hip and knee replacement program Standardized, evidence-based care pathways Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols Same-day or short-stay joint replacement programs Multidisciplinary team collaboration (PT, anesthesia, OR teams) Strong patient education and prehabilitation focus 50/50 Clinic and Operating Room split Key Responsibilities Outpatient / Clinical Care Perform pre-operative evaluations for hip and knee arthroplasty patients Conduct post-operative visits, wound checks, and complication monitoring Evaluate and manage degenerative joint disease and MSK conditions Provide non-operative care, including joint injections Educate patients on surgical procedures and recovery expectations Coordinate imaging, labs, and surgical clearances Surgical / Perioperative Support First assist in primary and revision total joint procedures Support efficient OR workflow during high-volume surgical days Assist with intraoperative decision-making and protocols Post-Operative Care Manage recovery progression and rehabilitation coordination Identify and triage complications (DVT, infection, stiffness, pain) Support rapid recovery and outpatient joint replacement pathways System Integration Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and rehab teams Maintain accurate EMR documentation Participate in quality improvement and outcomes tracking initiatives Role Highlights No ER call or overnight hospital coverage Elective, scheduled surgical practice Predictable weekday schedule High procedural volume and exposure Direct mentorship from an experienced orthopedic surgeon and PA team Qualifications Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) Minimum 4 years of orthopedic or MSK surgical experience preferred Total joint and first assist experience strongly preferred Experience with perioperative pathways and joint replacement care Proficiency in knee injections required; hip injection experience preferred Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient education skills Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume team environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive orthopedic subspecialty salary Performance-based incentives (if applicable) Comprehensive benefits package Paid Time Off (PTO) CME allowance Malpractice coverage Apply today to join a premier orthopedic team and advance your career in total joint reconstruction.
