Job Description

Seeking a full time Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join one of North Texas' fastest growing cardiologist practices and work in collaboration with our growing Advanced Heart Failure Team. Our Advanced Heart Failure Program offers a team comprised of 7 Advanced Heart Failure Trained Physicians, 7 Nurse Practitioners and 5 LVAD coordinators. We provide advanced heart failure services that include: left and right sided heart failure, infiltrative disorders, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, cardio-oncology and cardio-renal syndromes. We offer a full range of heart failure treatment options including temporary and durable mechanical support (IABP, ECMO, RVAD, LVAD), pre-transplant and post-transplant management along with medication therapy. We have a robust LVAD program with roughly 40 LVAD implants per year and currently over 150 patients. The advanced practice provider is part of close-knit comprehensive care team. We provide an environment which will allow autonomy and professional growth by incorporating educational and teaching opportunities, multi-disciplinary collaboration and communication along with scientific inquiry and translation of research into practice. The APP will work alongside the MD and will be responsible for evaluating, stabilized and treating patients with both acute and chronic diseases across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities are:
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with advanced heart failure and LVADs
  • Manage care for pre-operative, post-operative, and long-term LVAD patients
  • Monitor and interpret LVAD parameters (flow, speed, power, pulsatility index)
  • Adjust treatment plans in collaboration with cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery teams
  • Diagnose and manage complications (infection, thrombosis, bleeding, device malfunction)
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, hemodynamic data)
  • Prescribe medications including anticoagulation management
  • Provide patient and caregiver education on LVAD care and emergency management
  • Participate in LVAD patient selection and evaluation processes
  • Coordinate transitions of care (ICU, inpatient, outpatient, home)
  • Participate in weekend call schedule with APP team.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for LVAD patient support with LVAD coordinators

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
  • Grad of an Accredited Program
EXPERIENCE
  • More than 1 Year of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
Basic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer. Physician Assistants (PA): Must have a PA license through the state of TX.
