Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our practice. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a board-certified orthopedic surgeon to deliver comprehensive care across the full continuum — from initial evaluation and diagnosis through surgical assistance and postoperative follow-up. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical instincts, a patient-first approach, and a genuine interest in orthopedic and sports medicine.

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough patient history and physical examinations in the outpatient clinic setting; evaluate acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions including fractures, joint injuries, degenerative disease, and sports-related injuries. Order and interpret diagnostic imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT) and laboratory studies; develop and communicate evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians. Serve as first or second surgical assist in procedures such as joint replacement, arthroscopy, fracture fixation, and soft tissue repair; apply casts, splints, and braces as clinically indicated. Manage postoperative patients including wound care, suture and staple removal, monitoring for complications, and coordinating physical therapy referrals and follow-up imaging. Perform in-office procedures including joint and soft tissue injections (corticosteroid, PRP), aspiration, and minor laceration repair. Prescribe medications, DME, and rehabilitation protocols within scope of practice; provide thorough patient education on diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery expectations. Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in the EMR system (Athena); manage prior authorizations, referrals, and coordination with ancillary care teams.

Qualifications:

DEA registration or eligibility BLS and ACLS certifications 1-2 years of orthopedic or surgical PA/NP experience preferred; new graduates with relevant rotations considered Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to interact well with patients and other team members Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to multitask and prioritize the workload

Physician Assistant Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited PA program NCCPA board certification (PA-C) Active Virginia PA license (or eligibility to obtain)

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) ANCC or AANP certification Active Virginia APRN license (or eligibility to obtain)
