Sick Leave Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) .
Experience:
Completion of a fellowship or residency in Orthopedic Medicine, OR Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience within the last 3 years as an Orthopedic PA.
Certification:
Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) . Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Licensure:
Hold a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a PA in any U.S. state or territory (including D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands). Immunization Requirements (Must be current or able to obtain): Hepatitis B (series and titer) Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Varicella (Chickenpox) TB (Tuberculosis) test Seasonal Influenza (flu) vaccine

Key Responsibilities:
As a Physician Assistant in the Orthopedic Department, your role includes but is not limited to: Provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care , including: Evaluation and treatment of sprains, strains, contusions, back/neck pain, sports injuries, rheumatic diseases, and chronic pain. Management of neuromuscular and peripheral nervous system disorders. Injury rehabilitation and functional capacity assessments. Assist in pre-, intra-, and post-operative orthopedic procedures , such as: Physical assessments, surgical prep, instrumentation setup, first/second assist during procedures. Wound care, dressing changes, splint/cast changes, and suture removal.
Perform patient evaluations:
Participate in daily rounds, review diagnostic results, write progress notes, and prepare discharge summaries. Admit, transfer, and discharge patients (orders to be reviewed by a supervising physician). Respond to pages/calls from the ER, clinics, and fleet regarding musculoskeletal issues. Review and respond to consults via the computerized referral system.
