Job Description

at University of Vermont Health Network Medical Group in Burlington, Vermont, United States Job Description Offered salary: $386,483 per year. The University of Vermont Health Network Medical Group, Inc. seeks an Endourologist to work in the Burlington, VT area, and be responsible for conducting surgeries on and providing clinical care to urology patients.
Specific duties include:
(i) analyzing patients' medical histories, medication allergies, physical conditions, and examination results to verify operation necessity and to determine best procedures; (ii) conducting research to develop and test surgical techniques to improve operating procedures/outcomes related to urological injuries and diseases; (iii) diagnosing bodily disorders and urological conditions and providing treatments in clinics, hospital wards, and operating rooms; (iv) diagnosing or treating disorders of the genitourinary system; (v) directing and coordinating activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, resident, and other medical staff; (vi) examining instruments, equipment, and operating room to ensure sterility; (vii) examining patient to obtain information on medical condition and surgical risk; (viii) following established surgical techniques during the operation; (ix) managing surgery services, including planning, scheduling and coordination, determination of procedures, or procurement of supplies and equipment; (x) operating on patient's genitourinary system to correct deformities, repair injuries, prevent and treat diseases, or improve or restore patient's functions; (xi) ordering and interpreting the results of laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging procedures; (xii) preparing case histories; (xiii) prescribing preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures, such as sedatives, diets, antibiotics, or preparation and treatment of the patient's operative area; (xiv) providing consultation and surgical assistance to other physicians and surgeons; (xv) referring patients to other practitioners when necessary; and (xvi) participating in the instruction of fellows and residents who are completing their clinical education. Must have MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree plus completion of a recognized Endourology Fellowship. Must have (or be eligible for) VT medical license. Must also possess a valid DEA certificate and be able to obtain hospital privileges. Must have experience with the management of pre- and post-operative surgical patients and with standard and mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy including ultrasonic and fluoroscopic access in the prone and supine position and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate.
