Position description The Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the University of California, Irvine is seeking one or more Professional Researchers (open rank) with expertise in human research on stress and resilience, with a particular focus on topics including (for example) precision stress management, scalable evidence-based interventions for reducing stress and enhancing resilience, multi-level/multi-method studies on the psychobiology of stress and health, multi-omic approaches to studying stress and disease risk, stress and health in women, stress and resilience in vulnerable populations, and bioinformatic and/or statistical approaches to studying these topics. This position supports translational research efforts within the Laboratory for Stress Assessment and Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, under the direction of Dr. George Slavich. The basic requirement for this position is a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with relevant experience in psychology, psychiatry, statistics/biostatistics, and/or related field. The ideal candidate is looking for a position that will combine the opportunity to carry out both highly collaborative and independent research on stress, health, and resilience in humans. In addition, the position will involve providing training and supervising research assistants, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to work independently; conduct translational studies in the lab; lead scientific article preparation, data analysis, and writing; attend regular team and project meetings; apply for grants; and develop a portfolio of highly collaborative, independently funded projects through contracts and grants. This position is offered at up to a 100
  • time appointment for one year with the potential to renew annually.
Salaries are based on University of California salary scales, which are dependent on academic rank and step, and commensurate with experience. Appointments are based on performance and availability of funding.
