- Part-time Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Nephrology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic healthcare team, working primarily on Wednesdays and Fridays.
In this vital role, you will provide expert nephrology care, support patients with chronic kidney disease, and collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Your expertise will help improve patient outcomes through comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, and patient education. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations focused on kidney health. Manage dialysis patients by monitoring treatment sessions, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring optimal care delivery. Administer injections and medications such as erythropoietin or iron therapies following established protocols. Assist with complex procedures including catheter care, vascular access management, and spinal tap when necessary. Collaborate with physicians to develop and adjust individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic evaluations and laboratory results. Document all patient encounters accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients about their condition, medication adherence, dietary restrictions, and lifestyle modifications to promote self-management of kidney disease. Skills Proven experience with Epic EHR systems or similar EMR platforms such as Cerner or Athenahealth. Knowledge of nephrology-specific procedures including dialysis management, IV infusion therapy, and catheterization techniques. Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies related to chronic kidney disease and acute care settings. Ability to perform detailed patient assessments in diverse environments such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes and Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases. Excellent communication skills for triage calls, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Critical care experience including ICU or Level I Trauma Center exposure is highly desirable for managing complex cases effectively.
