Job Description
Seeking a dedicated physician who wishes to build a robust primary care practice focused on adolescents and young adults in the South Bay community and beyond. This role emphasizes comprehensive outpatient care, preventive health, and continuity of care for teens and young adults. A meaningful portion of the practice will include caring for patients with eating disorders in both clinic and hospital settings as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary program.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide primary care to adolescents and young adults, with the option to also see some general primary care patients. Develop long-term therapeutic relationships and serve as a medical home for teens and young adults. Conduct outpatient eating disorder consultations and participate in hospital coverage within the Eating Disorders Medical Unit (EDMU) at Torrance Memorial, providing medical stabilization for hospitalized patients ages 11-25. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Psychiatry, Nutrition, Psychology, Gastroenterology, and specialized nursing staff.Work environment and schedule:
Position is full-time, 4 or 5 days per week, depending on preference. Hospital coverage will be split between the physicians in the inpatient program. On hospital coverage days, you will round in the hospital in the morning, typically seeing up to 5 patients per day. Clinic visits will be scheduled in the afternoon.Required qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO), with current, unrestricted state license to practice Board certification or active board certification in a relevant specialty (Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine) Clinical experience with treating adolescents and an interest in providing care to eating disorder patients.Core competencies and skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with good bedside manner and ability to work with psychiatrically complex patients and their families.
