Exempt Summary:
The Pediatrician provides comprehensive primary care medical services to pediatric patients at TMWIHC. Reporting to the Medical Director, this position delivers preventive, acute, and chronic disease care in a patient- and family-centered, culturally sensitive environment, with a commitment to the health and well-being of Tribal children and youth.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
(Will include but not limited to) Provide comprehensive preventive and primary care services to pediatric patients from birth through adolescence. Perform well-child examinations, immunizations, developmental screenings, and anticipatory guidance. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions. Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic studies. Collaborate with specialists and refer patients as appropriate. Document all patient care accurately and completely in the electronic health record. Engage families and caregivers as active partners in care planning. Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and continuing education activities. Provide culturally sensitive care and develop trusting relationships with patients and the community. Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school required. Current, unrestricted California medical license required. Board certification or active pursuit of board certification in Pediatrics required.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Indian Health Service (IHS), or tribal health setting. Experience serving Native American or underserved pediatric populations.Requirements:
Current DEA registration. CPR/BLS certification. Valid California Driver's License. Must comply with all credentialing and background screening requirements.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods; climbing stairs and step-stools; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching; pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 30 pounds; and raising objects overhead. The role also requires manual dexterity for operating computers and phones, as well as hearing, talking, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers are involved. The employee may be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as heat and cold, and will be required to walk on uneven ground.
