Description Attending Physician in Hospital Medicine VA Connecticut Healthcare System The VA Connecticut Healthcare System is recruiting for a full-time staff physician specializing in Hospital Medicine to serve Veteran inpatients on the acute care service.
Schedule:
Eight months per year is designated for clinical work, and the remaining time for self-directed academic pursuits.
Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, typically with 1 weekend day in-house while on service. The physician will provide comprehensive inpatient care for hospitalized Veterans 18 and older, including admission, evaluation, management, and discharge, ensuring safe and efficient transitions of care. All care is delivered while supervising Yale Internal Medicine residents and students. Teaching includes dedicated formal teaching time and evaluation of trainee performance. The selectee must demonstrate continued effort to stay abreast of emerging literature and guidelines and participate in section meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and committee activities. Recent repeated experience in paracentesis, lumbar puncture, and point-of-care ultrasound preferred but not required. This position comes with a Yale faculty appointment; initial appointment level depends on previous experience. The position also includes on-tour time designated for self-directed scholarly work, which is expected as part of dual VA and Yale appointments. Position requirements include U.S. Citizenship, M.D or D.O, and a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state. Must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
