Monday through Friday 8a-4:30pm

Location:

661 E. Altamonte Dr. Altamonte Springs, FL 32701 Contacts insurance companies and physician offices by phone, fax, or online portal to obtain insurance benefits, eligibility, and secure authorization information. Ensures every effort is made to obtain authorization from payers to protect the financial stability of the hospital. Cross-trained between 2-5 areas, including imaging, surgery, inpatient, pre-registration, or rehab to assist in multiple areas as needed. Reviews clinical records when following up on authorization requests directly with payors. Escalates peer-to-peer requests to physician offices and assists in scheduling these requests to ensure an authorization decision is made prior to the date of service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and adroit ability to use discretion when discussing patient related information that is confidential in nature as needed to perform duties [Required]
• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs [Required]
• Ability to operate general office machines such as computers, facsimiles, copiers, and scanners [Required]
• Ability to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks, and organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion [Required]
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in written form [Required]
• Ability to be responsive to ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and act accordingly [Required]
• Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures, with a close attention to detail [Required]
• Familiarity with medical procedures, terminology & modality requirements [Required]
• Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and ability to use discretion when discussing patient related information that is confidential in nature as needed to perform duties Scheduling experience [Preferred]
